Summer is coming closer quickly and I hope you’ve already lined up some awesome adventures and travels for your summer holidays. No matter what you are up to this summer, when traveling, we usually want to share some of the splendid impressions we make with our loved ones, or work colleagues, whom we want to let know how great it feels to be out of office while they have to jump in for us at work.
Although I appreciate sharing my impressions through Instagram, What’s App, Facebook or Facetime, I think sending an actual Post Card has never lost it’s value. It shows the recipients that among all the people you share your best travel moments with, they are the ones you actually thought of and kept in mind while living the good life thousands of kilometers away from home.
However, the downside of postcards is, that bought in common tourist shops, they usually are way too expensive, show cheesy or touristy images instead of personal impressions and you always forget to post them once you „temporarily“ put them into a magazine in your backpack until you find the next letterbox or post office. But don’t worry guys, as a big fan of innovation and cool new services I want to introduce you to sending postcards in the 21st century. Individualization and comfort are key. So what if I told you there was a tool, that allowed you to create postcards out of your own travel snaps? Pretty cool, hey?
During my travels through Australia I was looking for an easy and cheap way to send home a little reminder that I’m still alive and doing alright and thereby discovered the“Postkarte” app by Österreichische Post. With this simple app you can use the shots on your phone to quickly make your own customized Post Card. Once you’ve selected a picture or created a collection of pics using the different layout options you can enter a little note for the dear ones on the back and the recipient’s address. After you’re finished, you can post the card for EUR 1,99, no matter in which hidden corner of this planet you’re searching for happiness at the time. And that’s it. The rest will be handled by Austrian Post. Too easy! Worth giving a try I’d say. Below I’ve put together a little tutorial to walk you through the app and show you some of my fav Postcards from Australia.
