On the Hunt for the Most Stylish Beards on the Streets of Vienna

As some of you might have seen on my Instagram & Snapchat stories, last week my photographer buddy Max Salzer and I browsed through the streets of Vienna to find the city’s most stylish beards. For our friends and beard styling experts over at Braun we tried to find young men that rock their beards as an accessory to enhance their style. While a lot of men still don’t realize the potential that lies in well groomed facial hair, we found the ones that turned their beards into statements. Some subtler, some more obvious, but the thing they all have in common is, that their beards match the overall appearance of these young gentlemen. Their stylish beards compliment their looks and take them to the next level. In other words, these guys turned their facial hair into an individualized and distinctive accessory that gives character to their styles.

Beard 1 – Controlled Sophistication

Johannes immediately convinced us with his controlled six-day beard. This type of beard goes perfectly well with the classy, scandinavian look combining a turtle neck with an elegant overcoat and a contrasting scarf. Together with the preppy hair and the classic opticals this beard makes for a masculine and sophisticated look. A beard style that fits the concept of the modern urban man in his late twenties/early thirties: full of ambition, smart, style-conscious but masculine.

Beard 2 – The Modern Gentleman

Amed shows us the prototype definition of a beard used as an accessory. His modern interpretation of dapperness is flawless. The elegant suit and tie business look with a classy trench coat is taken to the next level by his full beard and long hair. A modern gentleman through and through, Amed’s classy look is perfectly neat yet edgy and untamed. In other words a welcome and fashionable alternative to the common slick business style. However, don’t forget, a full beard like Amed’s takes a good while to grow and calls for the right trimming tools and beard care.

Beard 3 – The Hip Hollywoodian

Jean-Claude presents us another version of the full beard, the so called Hollywoodian. Pairing the fierce masculinity of a full beard with the well-groomed appearance of clean shaven cheeks, this beard shows the man has got style. The immaculate transition between haircut and beard creates a consistent look with character and recognition value, that on top matches perfectly with Jean-Claude’s avant-garde street style. A beard like this one requires a lot of grooming and trimming.

Beard 4 – The Alternative Hipster

This young lad shows us a more alternative kind of look. Also here the beard harmonizes well with the overall style, particularly the undercut with the man-bun . I assume it’s a bit longer than the six-day beard but still looks cultivated and controlled. The undercut with the man-bun looks together with the vintage leather jacket and the retro high neck sweater underneath suggest a hip yet little more alternative vibe.

Beard 5 – Casual Cool

Dan is braving the cold weather in Vienna with a thick down jacket and a casual crew neck underneath. His style is casual but cool. Keeping things plain and simple with his outfit, the beard makes his style look more edgy and audacious.

Beard 6 – Nordic by Nature

Ben rocks a so called chin curtain beard, growing along the jaw line and covering his chin. We think his beard compliments his nordic look seamlessly and gives him a touch of a friendly viking. It also works well with his all-black casual street style and adds personality to the overall appearance.

Beard 7 – Easy Going

Unpretentious and easy going, the key ingredients for this fella’s style. The beard speaks the same language. While it looks as if it was kept in shape regularly the contours are not too crisp and precise. The beard looks groomed but not too polished. That way it rounds off the laid-back style pretty well.

Beard 8 – Street Style Musketeer

One of the highlights of our search for Vienna’s most stylish beards was this musketeer-like hybrid of Moustache, Soul Patch and Goatee. While the beard is actually a breach of style to the streetwear kind of outfit, it’s exactly this dichotomy that makes this style interesting and unique. Bottom line, this beard is a true eye-catcher and grooming masterpiece.

Beard 9 – Timeless

Bernd is keeping things classy with this timelessly elegant style. His beard is best described as an middle way between full beard and chin curtain. It’s longer than the six-day beard but not a massive full beard either. However, it looks well groomed with sharp contours and fits Bernd’s classy and timeless appearance very well.

Beard 10 – Dandy Dude

Similar to the previous beard but probably slightly longer and fuller, Constantin shows off a dandy everyday style. While the outfit and haircut look rather neat and sleek, the thick beard gives the style a little more roughness and edge.

Beard 11 – The Viking

Meet our winner in the category “longest beard”. Growing a beard like this one and keeping it in shape takes a lot of patience and dedication. Thus, we think this lad deserves some credit. Furthermore, the long ZZ-Top beard together with the long hair provides for a fierce viking-like appearance, which harmonizes well with the rest of his style.

Beard 12 – Young Urban Creative

Last but not least, here’s how I like to use my beard as an accessory. At the moment I enjoy wearing a three day beard, which requires regular trimming. It looks well-groomed but not polished, masculine but not too raw. Moreover, the stubbles emphasize the shapes of my face and convey a more edgy look than a clean-shaven babyface, which also works well with the biker jacket outfit.

That said, my advice for you is, to make sure your beard fits your style. A beard can be a great accessory, but like any other accessory it has to suit the rest of your look. Furthermore, even the most stylish beards do not always look good on every face. Try to find out which kind of beard compliments the shape of your face and don’t get carried away by the idea of a certain beard style that might not even fit you.

Of Course the Young Urban Creative … 3 days beard is always a good Option, not to much to take care of, just trimming and shapingthe edges! Great Blogpost 😉

Best Wishes,
Patrick

Amazing Post! My favourite is definitely the ” Young urban creative “. Love the masculine look that comes with this beard. I wish mine was as long as his 😀 But mine still needs a Braun Trimmer and therefore I would feel so lucky to win this !
Best,
Bernhard
