This week I’m back with an absolute essential for every man’s closet, the biker jacket. The biker jacket was introduced to the world of fashion by icons such as James Dean, Elvis Presley, The Ramones, The Clash and many other rock’n’roll legends. With it’s roots in rock’n’roll music and the biker scene these jackets have always carried a raw and rebellious attitude which ultimately made them become a preferred style throughout pop culture. From pop stars, over rappers, over sports stars and other artists the leather biker jacket became an icon itself. However, knowing the feeling of a sort of limited budget, finding the perfect one can be quite difficult. Luckily ZARA has come forward with a perfectly neat and classic, reasonably priced rock’n’roll biker jacket in its recent fall/winter collection which heavily reminds me of one I saw in Sandro stores in Paris not too long ago. The only downside is, that it’s made of fake leather. Nevertheless, it looks amazingly authentic. Another cool thing about these jackets is that they are definitely a recurring, if not persistent, trend and can therefore sort of be considered timeless classics.
To maintain a rocky and edgy style I like to combine my biker jacket with ripped jeans, plain tees and a pair of minimalist white sneakers to preserve the simplicity of the outfit. However, given the versatility of these jackets, they also look great with a shirt underneath and a pair of chelsea or chukka boots.
