H&M Close The Loop – Contemporary Denim Styles Entirely Made From Recycled Clothes
The new H&M Close The Loop campaign, a denim collection made fully out of recycled clothes is dropping online today. For over three years H&M has been collecting old clothes, that their customers’ could bring to any H&M store around the world in return for a little voucher. According to media reports by doing so the company managed to collect more than 14000 tonnes of unwanted clothes. This widely successful initiative resulted in the release of two complete collections entirely made of recycled clothes in fall 2015. Now H&M Close the Loop is back with yet another exclusive collection of contemporary denim styles from pants & shirts, over coats, jackets to hoodies and tees, both for men and women. With H&M Close the Loop the swedish fashion giants have managed to create a fully sustainable closed textile manufacturing loop. The fabrics of old, thrown away clothes are being used to create new ones, thereby saving a lot of resources.
You can think what you want about fast fashion, but if you ask me this initiative is pretty awesome and H&M deserves a credit for this long-term initiative. Furthermore, if big companies like H&M manage to translate campaigns like H&M Close The Loop into a regular way of producing their clothes, this could revolutionize the whole textile manufacturing industry and deliver a major contribution to making fashion more sustainable in the long run.
Finally, apart from the great incentive behind it, also the design aspect of H&M Close The Loop should be highlighted. By picking up some old-school denim looks and giving them a modern revamp, the collection offers garments for pretty much every style. On the pics you see me wearing a lined denim short-coat over a vintage-style denim shirt and a pair of classic dark blue jeans. Worn with a pair of chunky worker boots this combination makes for a raw and manly denim style, perfectly suitable for the currently quite rough weather outside. Last but not least the sailor hat matches the style perfectly and emphasizes the rugged, docker kind of vibe.
