The Newtown Etiquette

Everyday surroundings have a strong influence on people’s style. Just have a look around the different districts of your city and you will realize how different the way of dressing can be and how some areas seem to at the same time attract, develop, influence a specific kind of style. Also for me, my local environment is a big source of inspiration. Over the last three months I had the pleasure to live in Newtown, which is probably Sydney’s hippest and trendiest neighborhood at the moment. Living in Newtown I enjoyed heaps of cool cafes, restaurants and bars as well as stylish boutiques right at my doorstep. The neighborhood is definitely shaped by it’s diversity. In Newtown people and styles from all over the world come together to one creative, innovative and vibrant community. As regards people’s style, I’ve particularly enjoyed the openness to individuality in Newtown. You can pretty much wear whatever you feel like without getting any weird looks here.

The outfit on the picture is inspired by the typical attributes of the local Newtown community. The rocky attitude that comes with the biker jacket, the touch of retro provided by the cropped drop-crotch trousers and the modern and creative twist brought in by the designer sneakers all come together in what I like to call the Newtown Etiquette. This is a look you can rock to pretty much all occasions. Beside being a great everyday style this outfit is club and date proof and comes with a cool and rock’n’roll attitude.

All pics were taken by my homie THE STYLE DOGG. Make sure to check out his awesome Youtube Channel!
