Being able to Fly: Ready for Take-Off with the Red Bull Skydive Team at the Windobona Wind Channel

Being able to fly is high up on the wishlist of many people. For us this wish got turned into reality, at least for a couple of minutes. The other week, the missus and I had the opportunity to get a little flying lesson from the amazing Red Bull Skydive Team at the Windobona wind channel at Viennese Prater. It started out with getting our equipment and a little introduction to the basics of flying in the wind channel. After that we got right to it and headed into the wind channel with the guys accompanying and looking after us as well as supplying us with useful tipps and tricks every now and then.

It takes a couple of minutes to get used to the feeling of levitating on an air stream and figuring out how even the tiniest movements have an effect when in the air drag. However, once you get over the first moments of adjustment the flying experience in the wind channel is pure joy, fun and excitement. The three guys from the Red Bull Skydive Team (Marco, Marco and Dominc) were awesome and even taught us some movements in the air. Even hours later we were still pumped with adrenalin and super excited looking back on this incredible experience.

Big thanks go out to Red Bull making this experience possible for us and to the awesome guys of the Red Bull Skydive Team who are not only great athletes but also super nice guys. And if you’re curious how it looks when the Red Bull Skydive Team takes their skills from the wind channel outside here’s a little video of one of their latest projects.
