Exploring Cockatoo Island with Noah Stammbach

Situated in the middle of Sydney’s world famous harbour it comes as a bit of a suprise Cockatoo Island is still a bit of an insider tip to many visitors of the Australian metropole. One of the many things I love about blogging is, that my constant search for new cool locations for photoshoots often takes me to places I would have not discovered otherwise. Thereby I often get to explore cities in a completely different way. During my time in Sydney I had to pleasure to get to know Noah Stammbach, who is an incredibly gifted young photographer from Sydney, and together we took it on ourselves to explore the many unique sites of the unesco world heritage listed Cockatoo Island.

Cockatoo Island looks back on a long and illustrous history. Starting out as a convict site with a penal settlement established on the island in the 19th century, it quickly became an important location for shipbuilding throughout the beginning of the twentieth century with numerous docks, dredges, barges and tugs built around that time. However Cockatoo Island was also home to a reform school in the early twentieth century until World War II turned it into the largest ship repair facility of the southwest pacific. Today the industrial character and historical production halls still remain on Cockatoo Island, however with a completely different function. From art exhibitions, over events to photoshoots, today Cockatoo island offers a awesome and unique playground for creatives of all different scenes. As for our little exploration tour Noah and I just went for a walk through the old production halls and warehouses and Noah did his magic behind the camera using the amazing light you get around there.

Matching the industrial setting the outfit is mostly kept in grey tones. An elongated split sides tee meets a slightly cropped chino with rolled up legs and a pintuck on the front and back. The combination of grey looks extremely neat and emphasizes what I’d describe as a classy street style. For the colder/windier days a classic bomber jacket is the obvious choice with this outfit.
